Ruth is listed as an outfielder (and a pitcher) for the 1918 Red Sox, in baseball-reference. He can be a hitter for the hitting Red Sox, or a pitcher for the pitching Red Sox (he is listed only as a pitcher in the earlier years he was on that team).

Sorry if my answer caused confusion -
1) Genegrid mistaken stated that he had taken Bos pitching so I wanted to point out he had picked Bos hitting.
2) I always thought ATG hitter for hitting team, ATG pitcher for pitching team -( Ruth is the rare exception who has both hitting cards and a pitching card).
3) My question to ironwill following my answer was me just being curious as to which of the Yankee cards he was going to take.
4) Plus in the original forum this question came up and I thought it was clear, again sorry for any confusion.

ok since Ruth did play over 100 games as a position player for the Red Sox, that is why he is eligible as a Boston hitter? If he was only a pitcher for Bos he would only have been elibible to the Bos-Pitching team? or yankees or Braves hitting team?
