In the roster set published yesterday, I show Tom had 38 players at that point, through pick #93.

Pick #102 was the 39th player and Lackey would become #40. Pick #104 would not be available to Tom, if that is correct.

Further, when a manager does an uneven deal DURING a free agent draft, we have always simply added another pick at the end -- so Torres can NOT yet be promoted.

If 2 players are traded for 1 player AFTER the draft concludes, then a prospect could be promoted. Otherwise, that would still be the same as protecting 31 players prior to the draft.

I recommend you guys work out a deal that becomes effective after each team reaches the 40-player limit.
