Personally, I had no problem understanding and following the rules as written. I also have no problem adjusting to what ever is decided. The ideas put forward are all good ideas.

Interesting to note that although it's still very, very early in the season, the one team that circumvented the 18-keeper rule, the same team that won the 2007 season, is already sitting with the best record in 2008.

would it be easiest to (slightly) extend the draft until every team has 25 players that are autodraft compliant?

what is it? like an extra 10 picks? if that

I could not agree more. Otherwise teams entering the AD without a compliant roster have an advantage over those that followed the rules of the game.

This is exactly what I have proposed to do going forward. It pretty much eliminates the advantage of being non compliant. Not opposed in theory to doing more free agent draft picks but it would present problems. Let's say I have 20 keepers and after 4 rounds of drafting I'm one shy of compliance, say I've got 13 batters but no real holes to fill there. Under your proposal would I be forced to take the batter or could I take a good reliever that I really need? This is the situation I was in this season. I took the pitcher and got the extra spot on my draft card which was allowed by the rules in place. Also wondering about those with 18 keepers compared to those with 21. Under your proposal, would those with fewer than 25 after 5 rounds of free agency just get to keep picking till they're compliant or would there just be a 6th and 7th round of the draft with everyone participating?

Sorry for the confusion. The suggestion was that all teams MUST be compliant for the AD after 25 players are chosen. The question I asked at the top of this post was not allowed.

Draft until all teams are 25 man compliant and have 28 on roster. No waivers. No frenzy. First through fifth rounds same time limit as we currently have. Final rounds to 28 one hour.

Does it matter to anyone that in some cases future draft picks have already been traded. just checking. for example I've already traded picks in the '09, '10, '11, '13, and '14 drafts. I don't think it matters much, but just making sure for the purists that don't like rules changed after the fact.

This works for me. So long as we maintain the 18-21 minimum keeper rule before draft.

This is the standard keeper route -- and perhaps the cleanest option, all around. I can support this.
