I haven't tried to estimate mathematically how my team compares to other teams yet... and maybe with good reason.
This is by far the most extreme team that I've ever created, in the NLD group, or ever.
The imbalance in my hitting in lefty/righty is off the charts for me. I did this deliberately, but I didn't think I would enter the regular season this way, and I'm not sure whether changes will happen in my division yet. I stacked up on L balanced hitters during the waiver draft, because there are a lot of lefty starting pitchers in my division.
As for my pitching, I actually made an adjustment after the first night of the season. My divisional friends have widely different batting lineups, in terms of lefty/righty hitters and lefty/righty balance. So I split my fourth SP* starter into a reverse balance lefty (Kazmir) and a reverse balance righty (Godley), in order to provide more flexibility to myself in terms of which of my 5 starters would be starting which games. Kazmir will avoid facing Jeep, and Godley will avoid Spider. With 3 SP* stud starters with moderate L-R balance, this works out well, in terms of per-game start scheduling.
Weaknesses for my team -
-injury prone.
-the whole premise of the team could have to be changed potentially, if my divisional friends change things up.
-prone to the "quick hook" with change in pitcher handedness.
-defense isn't always great, especially versus LHP
On the other hand, some nice features:
- Some cool opportunities for timely pinch hitting. This will be more beneficial at home than on the road, due to having the last change at home.
- Love my 3 stud starters. There's something about a "big 3" in sports that is appealing.
- Love Keirmeier at CF!
So, once again, I'm off on another experiment! So far so good.
