SOMworld has absolutely nothing to do with our draft. Someone asked about it earlier, and others have shared information about it. It is merely a strat fan premium content site filled with articles and spreadsheets to help Strat gamers who are into that sort of thing.

While we are waiting, is there any agreement on which draft number is best with a serpentine draft? Sure, #1 is great but the next picks at 48,49 are a long way. #24,25 also has a long wait to rounds 3 and 4. Any game theorists out there with a complicated math formula to explain it all? Maybe some rank-weighted variable <insert other nonsense terms here> chain analysis?

I havel asked for a 24 # random number generator from random source on the 20xx board.....
I have placed the 24 of us in alphabetical order on the spread sheet biggie is 1 yc bill is 24....
the random number generator will scramble us

IF at the close of the NYSE today the DOW JONES ends in an even # in the hundredths place we run with the random # generator
IF at the close of the NYSE today the DOW JONES ends in an ODD # in the hundredths place we will reverse the order

for example yesterday it was 16,336.66 even....

we should be able to start very soon

in hindsight I find this to be the cruel....
but the die has been cast....and it is only one day....

At close of DOW I will make a Dirty 2 Dozen Draft Thread and we can get on to the untimed Round One and as far as we can go before we hit one hour assigned slots on monday...

the draft will take its own pace with 24 folks spread out over the globe....
some people only check the board once a day until we start drafting
so be patient and prepare we will be underway in just a few hours.....

still hope for Fred or Dr Publix to sink millions of dollars into the market to get that top pick
as I have to do some selling soon (my old mother in law is becoming more costly ...not to mention well you know mother in laws and dementia)

Well, just doing a pretty basic experiment, I took the 2014 SOM game player salary values and sorted them numerically in descending order, then assigned a team to each salary in draft order so that the #1 team would get the most expensive player, and so on, in serpentine fashion, and then totaled the salaries after 30 rounds. In that experiment, the team with the most accumulated salary value was indeed the #1 team at $87.04MM. The worst spot was #19. But the advantage of being in the top five, though slight, was clear.

We need to remember that the closing Dow number is not the number at 4 pm EST when the bells rings, but soon thereafter when the trades "settle". At least that used to be the case when I was watching the stock market instead of playing Strat.
