I have a feeling a lot of you guys missed this post I made this morning concerning the end of the draft and penalties. I'm reposting...
IMPORTANT:
Gentlemen, I don't think anyone will have a problem with this. If someone does then make it known and we will vote if necessary. It's a rule change, but it's a favorable rule change.
I was just rereading the Rules again this morning and I felt that the penalty imposed of losing a $5mil player should it be Round 25 and an Owner needed two Hitters, or two Pitchers (as opposed to 1 and 1) to complete their draft, was just way too harsh. So much so I have withdrawn this rule almost completely. I don't think withdrawing it now effects anyone at this point in the draft; The draft is still in its earlier stages. Additionally, just the luck of the draw on what letter you get as the draft winds toward its conclusion may be out of your hands. IOW, you may not even have a choice in Round 24 whether you can draft a hitter or pitcher to get to the point of needing exactly 1 Hitter & 1 Pitcher for those last two picks. So this rule is struck down. The only exception is if it's Round 23 or earlier, then and only then, will a penalty be enforced. That penalty is the loss of a $3mil player or higher.
I don't think anyone will have a problem with this, but if there's even one objection then I will call for a vote. Any objectors can even let me know via PM should you want your objection confidential.
Thanks,
Jeep - Commish
