No kidding.
Were in the same boat. I lost Cobb and Charleston and was pretty set on losing Koufax too. Wanted to get that pick in before RangerJoe changed his mind. Might as well have just entered an autodraft league
I've been thinking about other ways to implement the past team concept. I know we haven't even started this league yet, but If I rerun the league after this league I'm thinking of doing it similar to a dream league format. Here's what I'm thinking.
1. Get 12 past teams
2. Run a randomizer for draft order.
3. Give a deadline for changing teams.
4. The deadline will be treated like last minute bids on many auction sites. If a past team is changed within the last 10 minutes prior to the deadline, the deadline will automatically be extended 15 minutes to allow other teams to also change to another past team. Each subsequent past team change will extend the deadline another 15 minutes until such time as no other past teams are changed.
5. The team with the first pick in the draft picks his entire team, being allowed to make up to 2 changes; The team with the second pick in the draft would then pick his entire team, being allowed up to 3 changes, plus being allowed an extra change for each player lost to the previous past team(s) drafting ahead of him. The team with the third pick would then pick his entire team, being allowed up to 4 changes, plus being allowed an an extra change for each player lost to the previous past team(s) that have drafted ahead of him. Each subsequent team drafting would be allowed a number of changes equal to the number of max allowed changes of the prior drafting team + 1, plus an extra change for each player lost. This would continue until all 12 teams were picked.
6. There would be a frenzy after the autodraft, but all teams must maintain a minimum past team roster equal to 24 minus the number of allowed changes minus the number of extra changes for each player lost to another past team.
7. Using a different version of the same player would not be considered a change.
What do you think of the above format for a redo league?
