Yes and Yes. I think that #2 is definitely better than the other way, though I would be open to entertaining the playoff teams idea suggested by hawk and smitty.

Perhaps we want to pass this rule change, then have a vote on that change? Otherwise, if this motion fails, we'll be 1-4-whatever for the divisions...

I'm not changing my vote this moment, as the current proposal is better than the current system, however I would not be opposed to a system that is like what Hawk is proposing where the four playoff teams are the east, followed by the next four best records in the central, and the for worst records in the west.

That being said - a very large portion of what makes up your record for the season is your division and who you are playing, which is why we do the rotation each period and try to keep teams that will be a little more competitive with each other together.

I went and looked through a bunch of my old leagues and only once would there have been a two team shift, it was usually none or one team.

In fact, it would make no difference this season, as the top four teams from season 1 of this year are the top four teams.

Since we would generally be talking about maybe one team, and at most two, I'd still be ok with Hawk's alternative.

As with everyone else (except thechamp 87) my recollection is that we have always said players taken in the current year's draft are not eligible for that year's prospect draft; otherwise, it would change daily as to who can be drafted, and it would tempt people to hold off drafting until a certain players signs.
But I agree with hawk regarding the divisional assignments, ie, four playoff teams instead of four best records.


4) Only players without MLB experience (prior to the MLB season currently being played) and signed by a MLB team prior to the current season's MLB draft are eligible for any prospect draft.

The new language for division assignments is this:

2) Divisional assignments will change each season. The format is this: a) initial divisional assignments follow the general format: 1-4-7-10 East, 2-5-8-11 Central and 3-6-9-12 West. B) subsequent assignments will place assign teams in descending order of record to the three divisions with the best team being placed first in the East and the worst team being placed last in the West.

There is also a question about trade 144 - it lists Peter obtaining BillV's 4th round prospect pick, but it says the year is 2012 - could that be right? Should it be for 2013?
