I know that we all have lives outside of SOM, and obviously things like work, family, health issues, travel schedules and emergencies are far more important than SOM, and I've said this previously, but it's mind boggling how people can know that we're in a draft, but fail to check from time if it's their turn to pick, and delay 11 other managers in the process.
If a manager knows that there's even a mere possibility that he won't be able to even check whether it's his turn to pick, doesn't it make sense that he contact the commish, or another trusted league member, with a number of proxy picks? In the absence of proxies, how about giving a cell phone number to the commish, or another trusted league member, so the manager can be texted when it's time to pick? I have the cell phone number of several DFL managers and former managers and have always been willing to let others know when it's time to pick if necessary. I promise that I won't call in the middle of the night and breath heavily into the phone!
At the very least, in the absence of proxies or texts, how about having the courtesy to tell everyone in advance if the manager knows that he's going to be away from his computer and won't be able to pick until a certain time so that those of us who want to keep the draft moving aren't wasting our time checking every hour whether it's our turn to pick?
