haven't had a lot of time to look into this. Am I understanding it right that all these guys being released are still being paid for next season, correct?

As one who has released guys, yes, they are still paid unless someone claims them on waivers, then claiming team takes over the contract. A couple guys are in arbitration, so no known salary yet.

I think Soria and Quintana above were already 2020 FA's and not technically released by dharmabums.

With more time on the clock before the 11/30 deadline, I'm going to add some names to my drop list

I still am dropping Mallex Smith, Tom Murphy, and E.Escobar, but I have also decided to cut Justin Upton and Jon Gray.

Good luck to you Paul, but technically, do we have to announce prospect promotion now, or can we wait until the regular season? I am thinking about doing this myself, but I thought I could wait until after the FA draft.

Thanks!

Section 10.09 says you must have a 40 man roster at the completion of winter free agency. Section 7.02 says if you have a full 40 man roster, prospects can't be promoted until there is room to do so. Section 7.03 says players on the 40 man can't be released while a season is in progress (however that's defined?) to promote a prospect.

While I very well could be missing something, it seems that it would be prudent to promote a prospect now. At a minimum you'd avoid having to eat a contract because of a full 40 man. You could probably trade your way into an empty roster spot too once FA is over.
