Well.... I use Find / Replace from the drop down menu very rarely. Control F is the Microsoft standard for Find in most of their Office apps where Find is applicable. As such, it has become the de facto standard and it will work in Google sheets, too. You use it like Control C and Control V (to Copy and Paste). Control F pops open an entry field in the top right that says, "Find in sheet." It will only Find in the sheet you are on. You can type in as many or as few letters as you want and it will find every match. You can toggle through matches with the Up and Down arrows to the right of the field. I don't use any of the wildcards or special characters.
I think if you try it, you will experience less grief.
Control F has nothing to do with Android.
