No the players remain the Core level they are for each franchise, so Ellis would remain a MON3, NYM2, CAL1. Therefore under those designations would not be controlled by any one franchise and the auto draft ranking would rule.
Now let's play out the Core5 scenario. I'll use Jesse Orosco since he is a Core5 that played for other clubs. He is a NYM5 LA1 CLV1 so for season 1 he is controlled by the Mets through the auto draft. After the auto draft if the Mets did not place him on their auto draft he is available to be picked up by any of the three franchises he is affiliated with. So in essence any Core5 player that is affiliated with other non-carded franchises is now treated like a Core4.
Does that answer your questions?
Yes, I think it does, Rosie.
What I get from this answer, in terms of strategy, is:
1. Make *sure* you autodraft core 5 and core 4 players that you want to keep , if they are "card1" or more with any other drafted franchise (which is just about all of the franchises now!).
2. Autodraft competitively for other players carded to your team (card3, card2 or card1) that are not core to other franchises, that you wish to obtain.
3. "Card1" effectively includes players that are designated as eligible for that team, by virtue of your googledoc, Rosie - i.e. not *just* players that actually have a carded season to a team in the mystery game itself.
Overall reaction - wow - this is going to be a wild west situation - lots of possible outcomes!
