Weird game tonight. Just your every day, ordinary 17-8 win. But wait, that's not the weird part the weird part is that we scored 9 runs in 14th inning! AND Milleram had Nick Anderson (SR of 1) go 6 IP. I didn't think that could happen. He went 2 2/3 without allowing a run before the roof caved in. Hal finally pulled him with 2 outs after allowing the 9th run of the inning on a 2 run HR. Very weird.

That'll skew the old Run Diff!

Just curious on the defense algo for the ratings. How is it calculated (roughly)?

The whole system is sort of a wOBA calculation so the fielding does the same, but it also adds in the bases lost when a DP is turned, or a runner it thrown out stealing or gained via stolen bases/wp/pd/bk etc.

That's a rough take on it, but I'm open to any questions you might have.

I always enjoy seeing JTJ's ratings. Sometimes I try to do the same, but seem to always overrate my team (no surprise there, since that's why I pick guys). Here are my rankings this season:

East: randal, JTJ, BigA (all close) and Dale a distant 4th
Central: Jeep, Spider, milleram, Stoney (last three very close)
West: toshiro, Semper, Nighthawk (so close there's really no difference) and klx far back (comment: klx has kicked my butt this season)

I don't usually come nearly as close as Joe to the actual results, but it's fun trying.

As we enter the intra-division stage, this is going to be fun!! (or not fun, depends on how our teams do.)

Best of luck to everyone. It seems pretty much everybody has a shot, and, as JTJ said, comes down to rolling the dice.

Injuries have really been my downfall. But, I'm underperforming in all publications.

Thanks for the ratings Joe.

Luck factors will be presented tonight...

One interesting factoid that I gathered in doing the factors.

Stoney has turned THREE TRIPLE PLAYS! No one else has even one!

Milleram has the highest luck factor rating. It's up there with the most I've seen. He's up big on both BP nubmers, one runners, Pythat, errors causing unearned runs. He *has*, however, had more injuries that you would expect which drops him by 1.

Hawk is also been to the good with big plusses in bphrs and one runners.

On the down side, Randal has been very unlucky, down in both bp numbers, brutally so in bphrs. He is currently 17-106. That's just a brutal number. He's also down in pythag.

Slightly unlucky are Dale and Stoney. Stones is bad in the bp area while Dale has struggled with bpsi, one runners and unearned runs. Balanced, somewhat, by rolling on his own card a lot.

Fielding
Caveats.... KLX and Dale have made a lot of moves so it's hard to get a true reading on these numbers. I'm pretty sure KLX's actuals are better than expected because he cut Tatis and Wong earlier.

Three teams are a little low: JTJ, Dale, Jeep while Stones is a bit better than expected.

I suppose you could use the F differences as luck factors, but it's not really different than the other comparisons I don't think.
