Moneyball Free Agent Signings 2024

Everyone has checked in and the spreadsheets have been updated. Please check your team rosters and your prospect drafts to make sure I haven't missed anything. We will begin the signing period on Thursday Jan. 2nd at 10:00am est.

Phil the free agent lists have players who made their debuts in 2024. Also Jake Burger is listed as a free agent but he's on my team.

Sorry, I wasn't able to remove the rookies before posting the list. Please check against baseball reference before posting a player. I'll try to remove as many as possible before tomorrow.

There seem to be a number of issues with the free agent lists.

In reviewing the first 20 lines of the hitters on the FA list, I found 5 guys who are on rosters:
Jose Ramirez
Willy Adames
Mookie Betts
Rafael Devers
Salvador Perez

And then in looking at the top 20 hitters on my FA radar, I found 3 veteran ballplayers who do not appear to be on rosters, but are not on the FA list:
Brent Rooker
Marcell Ozuna
Joc Pederson

Thanks, I’ll fix it. It appears that I copied the list for each position and players were duplicated.

Okay, so I used Fan Graphs data to make the FA list and made the mistake of copying each position instead of all hitters, hence I duplicated players. I apparently did not remove all of the owned players from the list before publishing. If you see a player on your roster who is on the FA list please post it and I will remove the player.

In addition, because I searched by position, I missed the DH only players. If you would like to add a player to the list then let me know and I will do so. I apologize for the errors.

Phil, thanks for all the work to get the FA list in place.

Urquidy appears both on my Cut Players list and Players list. Cut is correct. He also still shows on my Roster 2024-1 list. Also,I requested Minute Maid and dropped Citi (if that was allowed when I joined). CIti FIeld still shows on the Roster 2024-1 list.

Also Article X Section 10.02 states
Section 10.02 FREE AGENT ELIGIBILITY: Unsigned carded players from the previous SOM 365 season, and players with more than 6 years of service time and an expiring contract, are eligible for free agency. In addition, [b]MLB players who were uncarded the previous SOM 365 season, and who had at least 50 at bats or 30 innings pitched during the current MLB season, will be eligible for free agency. [Note, this means that players with no MLB experience prior to the 2022 MLB season, but who are carded in the SOM 2022 season, are still considered prospects and not free agents for the purpose of our annual prospect draft]. If you sign a player and SOM either does not produce a card for that player, or produces an unleashed card, you are still responsible for their contract.

I'm a bit confused. Is Shota Imanaga (no 2023 card or major league experience prior to 2024 but 173 innings in 2024, surely to be carded in 2024) eligible only as a prospect or both as a FA and later if not drafted as a prospect? He appears on the 2024 FA list. I think there are several players in a similar situation.

I guess that means if I draft him as a prospect, I can't promote him to use him in 2024-1, correct?
