Some days the breaks just fall your way! After giving up four in the first and trailing 1-4, The Gap scores 5 in the top of the 8th - including a two-out Grand Slam by VOGT (??!!) on Perez's card to pull out a 6-4 win over the Phanatics to split games 1 & 2.

Griffin faces Gonzalez and Wilson vs Verlander tonight.

That was one tough series against the Phanatics. Three 2-run games and 2 1-run games. The Phanatics outhit The Gap in four of the five games. We were very fortunate to make it to the finals.

Yeah Spider, that was a tough series. Kind of the story of my season. Best record but negative run differential.

I guess the only successful thing I did was build a team to compete in my division.

Yeah, you kicked my tail. 9-15 :( Did I mention we went 2-10 in your park???? ;)

Looks like the finals are set as Semper finished off the Moose with a blow out. They played three straight 6-5 games (GB winning two of them) before Semp blasted 5 HRs in a 12-3 win.

So we have Spiders and Wasps in the finals! :P

I nearly forgot about the series starting. I had a brain fartcht  after my visit to Fort McMurray and Fort McKay Canada last week.

Now I need to figure out how this team didn't fall down without my tutelage

Semper, full marks for the win!! (Hope you had a great trip in Canada!)

It really was an interesting series from a gaming perspective. I tried to hang in there in GAB, to no avail. Was pleased that the Mooseheads won 2/3 in Kauffman, but wasn't sure how to win a game in GAB anyway. A great argument for why the playoff seeding matters. I found all 6 games to be fascinating.

Well done!

Should be a great final!

Northern Alberta wasn't as cold as advertised. Although still dark at 900 am, one could survive this environment with enough beer and playing cards.

Series was tied 2-2 going into tonight. Semper pulls one out with two in the 8th and holds on, giving up one in the bottom of 9. Carp's HR in the 9th sort of made up for his error that cost a run in the first (not exactly a gold glove).

All but one game as been a one runner so far! Wow, what a close series!

Mad Bum versus Latos in a rematch of game 2 in which Mad Bum threw a 3 hit shutout. I'm sure Spider is hoping for a repeat. 8-)

Having to play Carp at 1B is definitely painful - both Sanchez and Smoak were out for Game 5. Sanchez finally will be available in game 6, buy Smoak is out for the duration. Semper had Ibanez back in for game 4 - giving The Gap the usual heart attack.

These 1-run games are tense. I need another great game from Bum and then Wilson to come through in game 7. :!:

Garrett Jones did a nice job covering Raul Ibanez for five (5) games. Having missed Raul, Pagan, and now Doumit for much of the playoffs, I'm happy this team has hung in for the close games. Deep has a better record for winning the 1-run outings

With the games coming back to my park, we'll see if my patched up line-up can best Bum and Wilson.
