Looking under Player movement, item 2 it states that "you can't trade draft choices that you do not own". If the max number of prospects is 10 and then you would not own the prospect pick because you have maxed out. If you are maxed out and have no draft picks then I think one should either promote prospects they have on roster or release prospects so that they would have an eligible pick. There seems to be some gray area surrounding this situation. If this trade had been made last year or during the off season it probably would not have created as much attention but happening after the prospect draft had started brought it more to the forefront. after having said this I think we should go ahead and let the trade go through but amend rules for the future where there will not be so much confusion on what is what

I have to vote no because you can't trade something that doesn't exist. For example, if there are 10 managers that are maxed out and I have no prospects, I could conceivably trade each manager for a pick (which they don't have cause they are maxed out)- and get 10 prospects from managers who are maxed out?

Another example. Let's say I have 10 prospects but two supposed slots available. Do we mean that I could trade those two slots for two future prospects or a first round pick in the FA draft. So, I had nothing (I'm maxed out) and now I have a first round pick?

Just drop a prospect or trade one.

Thats what I said :D .I still believe this is going to create a lot of problems and headaches moving forward, trading picks we have no rights to because we are at the max regardless if it is a FA pick,a supplemental pick or prospect pick. It IS the same principle in the FA draft:you draft until your roster is full so how can you then trade picks like the 10th rounders I mentioned previously that you no longer have space to use????? We ran into this same situation in another keeper league I am in and in most of the keeper leagues we have what has become known as the fowldowg corollary which again states you cant trade picks you no longer own because of the fact your roster is full so you no longer have ownership of those picks any longer

Found this in one of the first keeper leagues we began

The Fowldawg Corollary -- If you choose to trade Free Agent (or Supplemental) Draft pick/s -- you will be required to drop as many players necessary to actually have the pick/s that you traded. This means that if you choose to trade say for example a 9th round pick in an upcoming FA Draft that you are then required to drop that many players so that you will actually HAVE a 9th round pick. One important subset of this to note, is that IF you somehow make several unbalanced trades leaving you with a complete 40 man roster heading into the FA Draft -- AND you have (a) FA Draft pick/s coming to you as well -- you WILL have to drop (a) player/s in advance of that/those pick/s as well.

Now check nythawk's quote on Fowldowg corollary above; I think we should adopt it, but I will happily go along with the majority, but remember: It's strat-o-matic not strat-o-magic. You can not make something out of nothing.

When I began this poll on Thursday, I said "This is not a major issue for me, so if a majority of the remaining managers (other than Dan and I) say the deal should not be allowed, then we will cancel it."

Since a majority equals half plus one, that means 10/2 = 5 and 5 + 1 = 6; thus, 6 negative votes will kill the deal.

So far, we have 3 negative votes with 3 managers not voting yet...
