East: Stones needs to sweep DJ for a playoff spot. Anything else and DJ is in.

So you're saying I have a chance! :D

Alas Stoney, it wasn't meant to be.

As for us, we squeeked out 2 against GB despite THE VERY FIRST BATTER hitting it to Kendrick on a 3bx! That was pretty weird. He of course put a runner on 3b. Probably didn't cost us game1 because we didn't score, but that was weird.

a Huge 8th in game 2 with a 3 run HR by Alex Ram who wouldn't have starting v Fiers if Cabrera was healthy! and then Five HRs in Yankee to win game three 9-1.

Hawk, thanks for winning one. We needed that! Nice of Plouffe to hit a pair of HRs.

35% of our games were one runners!

Surprising that we finished with the highest run diff given our Offensive challenges. Not sure a team that finished first in pitching runs allowed and next to last in runs scored has ever lead in run diff!

We had a good record out of our division so I guess I'm rooting against GB in his series. ;)

We were 5-1 in AT's park so, maybe I like that he has the HF advantage! 7-5 overall so that doesn't mean very much.

GB had a 5-4 edge on DJ so, that means almost nothing too.

Looks like the only injury to start things off is E Cabrera who will miss the first game with AT.

GL to everyone.

Jet
p.s who invited GB? Making the playoffs your first three NLDs???? Come on :? Of course, the kiss of death is that this is his first time for having the best record. ;)

Thanks Big M! Glad to be in the playoffs two times running. Definitely got some breaks down the stretch to get in there! 8-)

Ok, I did these before the last series, but they are pretty close. As I stated before, I didn't adjsut for any moves or differences in pithcing usage so.....

I added fielding this time around.

ArrylTr   2350   9   3   6   C

GB was over, AT was way over and Keyz was under, but I think Keyz made a bunch of moves?

GB's overage is explained by his great record at home. As for AT, the only think I can figure is that he just out scored people. And his pitching and D was much better than would be expected. He spent less than many on pitching and Stammen who is a 2.33 mil guy got the bulk of his IP. His D (when he had Tulo) was one of the worst. Dropped to pretty much average with Hardy, but then that wouldn't explain his offense. Interesting that he's below .500 v LHP although he has very good hitters v LHP. Same record home and away, Even on 1 runners. Bottom ine is tha this pithcing over performed what the ratings would say.

Biggest diffs came here. We covered AT already, but GB and JTJ were also better than expected. In our case, the park must have helped more than I accounted for. In GB's case the opposite. Neither spent a lot on their pitching or D.

Fielding was very close with only DJ being off by much. Jeep migh thave been a bit better than expected. I should note that teams with very good catching arms are going to show worse in the actuals above (I just use X chances) and teams with so-so catching are more likely to over perform.

Luck factors

Corky had a good HR diff, one run and pythag rating for a +3 which is borderline lucky. Keyz was -5 with a large BPHR diff, one run and pythag diffs. Also was unlucky in terms of unearned runs.

As for the playoff teams, GB was alightly unlucky with bp hits. Was a bit lucky in terms of unearned runs, but not enough to be outside the Std Dev. AT was lucky with HRs and rolling on his cards and very close to the STD dev for unearned runes. JTJ was lucky rolling on his card, but not in pythag. I don't know if I believe the rolling on cards numbers as they don't zero out. DJ was unlucky with HRs, but good in one runners and not allowing unearned runs. The latter is interesting because his D underperformed his rating, but, perhaps, didn't cost him as much as could be expected.

It had to be the dice!

My pitching played tough but I couldn't score a run to save my team's season.

Thanks for the season. Sorry I didn't post much this time as I've been hunkered down turning around a company in Asia.

Notwithstanding my season, I'm in for the next NLD.

Ugh, that season was one hot mess! Unlucky, bad, you name it. Work's been crazy door me all summer too, so I've only had the pleasure of viewing this team's collapse in glimpses. Oh well, just like the Sox, I'm looking for a worst to first turnaround!

Thanks bigmahon!

A big honorable mention to BigAlric - whose Bonn Braumeisters led the division for much of the season!
