The last time that I was in one of these leagues we were able to draft only 24 players and not have to wait until after draft to drop the 25th player. Hopefully I can draft only 24 because that fits my payroll.

Correct on the roster setup. We don't have to carry 25 players at the start anymore. You can go with 24 from the onset. If that's all you plan to carry through the season, then that's all you need to select now. If you are doing a couple platoons and need 25 to have enough subs, no problem.

I agree on the "Gentlemen's Rules." The early teams don't need to worry so much about matchups since they get first pick of players. The later teams already know who is in their divisions and what ballparks they are playing. Shouldn't be any need to stash players. Besides, even if you're in the top 4 this league, you're going to be picking bottom 4 soon enough. Might as well not piss off the guys who can weasel you next league.

Play hard. Play fair. Have fun, dammit.

I fear it might be morning before someone is checking on things on the Strat cloud. But we'll be after it soon enough.

One reminder, if you run out of cap room before you pick 24 players, you will be shut down and unable to finish picking your team. I always grab 8-10 .50 players, then finish filling out my roster, THEN dropping those 8-10 .50 players for the players I want to fill out my team.

Thanks Andy. That’s the caveat I was referring to earlier.

I can't remember, but I thought you couldn't drop a player once you selected them in the initial draft. Any of you remember whether that's the case? Maybe that was when we drafted on Diamond Dope.

You’re picking them just like you would Free Agents, not technically drafting them. You CANT drop and add til you reach 24 players, though. When manager #1 is done, he announces his park and that he is done tinkering with his roster. He then can make no further moves until the draft is over.

I have a golf outing today. It’s tough being retired if strat doesn’t let me pick my team in the next hour or so, it will be later this afternoon or early evening.
