Corky, season after season, teams with good one records are not always the teams with the best records that part is not even debatable. I'm not talking about ratings now, just talking about records. For example, my team must suck and we're a game above .500 in one runners. Not sure you've studied this data as much as I have.
In any case, you don't have to call it luck if you don't want to, but the fact remains that high one run gaps tend to lead to variations from the ratings. I call it luck (as do some others), you can say that the ratings don't predict high or low one run teams very well. <shrug>
As for this team, clearly we aren't going anywhere. Even with guys who I think should be either good or at least not sucky v LHP, they just aren't hitting:
Montero - .191
Hill - 247
Cozart 213
Nunez 258
Viciedo 242
Pagan 177
Rios 235
Wright and Fielder have done well, but that's it. I'm not saying that these guys couldn't ever hit this bad v LHP, but all of them at the same time isn't very expected. Hopefully these guys will hit their cards the rest of the way and we'll get healthy.
Oh well, looks like we'll be back in the East for the start of 2014.
