I'll be keeping Fenway, but I want to check on one of the exclusion rules and check again on Prospects.
a) I have no idea if he'll be included, but one of my 2015 prospects, Bruce Rondon P DET played in 30 games, but pitched only 26.2 innings. By the League standard he would be out, correct?
b) Shohei Otani from Japan is one of my 2015 Prospects. Can I promote him to my 40 man even though he has not played, or even signed in the US yet?
c) Henry Owens P BOS is another of my prospects; he's not come up yet, but if I want to keep him I take it I must put him on my 40 man.
d) Mike Foltynewicz P HOU is one of my 2016 Prospects; although he played in one MLB game in 2014 I take it I can keep him down on the farm (he's not going to get a TSN card it is safe to say).
e) When do I get to announce the recall of Masahiro Tanaka P NYY, one of my 2016 prospects? After the FA Draft?
I am asking the above questions now not to be a bother, but so we can all understand the rules clearly before drops.
The Prospect Rule Reads:
2) There will be a 2-phase Prospects draft after the 40-round draft. Each team will be able to select 3 prospects in phase 1 and 2 prospects in phase 2 who have not yet played in an MLB game prior to the season in which the draft occurs. The team will retain rights to those players for 2 years. If they don't have a TSN card or if you don't promote them to the 40-man roster within that time frame, you lose their rights. Each year we'll do another Prospect draft to restock our farm teams, and if you lose rights to a player, they can be picked by another team or redrafted by the original owner. If you wish to activate a prospect, you must announce a drop of another active player from your 40-man roster or add them to your roster if you have less than 40 players. The 1st prospect draft draft order will be the opposite of the 1st round of the initial 40-man draft to reward the patience of the bottom guy in that draft. It will be serpentine. All subsequent prospect drafts will NOT be serpentine & will be based on reverse order of finish over the 2 seasons played in the previous year. All players who have not played in MLB are eligble for the prospect draft including unsigned US or international amateurs.
