As a retro league, we have always dated our seasons by the season of the card set in use -- so this will be the 2019 draft right now.

If it's simpler, you can say "this draft" and "the next draft."

You know that’s not right. I am in too many leagues to get caught up in language like that. Clearly it’s this draft and the next one: 2019 and 2020 card sets. We had to get creative since we can't have 3 picks in a year per the rules.

RE-REVISED RULES, effective with the 2016 card set
1) We will hold a prospect draft prior to the annual free agent draft, with managers drafting up to 2 prospects per year.
2) The draft can begin as soon as all managers have checked in and posted their drops and promotions for the new season.
3) Prospects are those players who are the property of an MLB team and have not yet appeared in MLB as of the season of the current card set.
4) Draft sequence will be determined by the combined win-loss records of the 2 regular seasons for the previous card set: Reverse order, worst-record first, NFL style.
5) Prospects may be held indefinitely, until such time as a player receives a card, at which point the prospect must be either promoted or dropped -- with managers holding no more than 4 prospects at any one time.

Yes, each manager has two picks. He can use them himself or trade them to others.

We might need to amend the rules then so we are clear. Fred and I altered that trade because that is not how it reads.
