Just an inquiry. If an owner has dropped from his current roster, one of his protected keepers from last season. Is that player fair game or is he still protected?

Dear Ryne crazy:

It might be that he had to drop the player off his roster in order to meet the maximums of 14 pitchers or 17 hitters.

If the player is one of the 16 keepers OR one of the 8 we have added so far. I would say they are protected.

I know this is a problem because I have 14 pitchers and can't show any more on my roster, but I might pick one anyway.

Minor technical question but was curious....I didn't protect Werth this season because he's recently announced his retirement and hasn't played a game for the Mariners this year...I just assumed he would disappear. I see he's still around and was drafted which is fine but was wondering why he hadn't been dropped by HAL.

Probably, for the same reason that Cory Seager had season ending "Tommy John" surgery and won't play again this year,but is still available to the Dodgers and he isn't even a 6 injury!

Once a player is 'carded' for the Daily Game, they are available in the database for what remains of that entire Daily Game Season, even the players that are no longer on current MLB rosters. Injured players usually get a '6' and then end up getting hurt during play, but not always.

To that end, Werth won't be on next years' Opening Day Daily Game roster. I have NEVER liked that guy, so I would not want him even if he lead the league in hitting. I feel the same about Ty Cobb, but I may 'soften' on that.

I think so many folks complained that their Daily Game team would be ruined if HAL switched Cory to a '6' that they just ignored the fact that he doesn't play this year. He doesn't get any better or any worse. Same goes for several of my players, but they have all been changed to '6' by the powers that be.

At the end of this season, we get to keep 16 UFAs again, and GG has come up with a couple SPECIAL drafts, so as long as the player doesn't retire, you have a chance that they will come back stronger next year (Holy Crap, I sound like Ernie Banks).
