"I started a new forum for the prospect draft. Will be untimed until Wednesday. TVF33 can start anytime, however, with the FA draft still ongoing I am not much worried about anyone taking prospect picks until Monday or Tuesday, would like to see some picks taken before WED. We should finish up the FA draft by Saturday or Sunday. Please note the prospect draft player eligibility rules (on page 1 of this forum and the new forum), a player must not have any regular season MLB experience and must have officially signed a contract with a MLB team by March 1st, 2015. Officially signed means the contract was announced as an official transaction by March 1st."

So if a prospect had a cup of coffee (1 appearance or more) with a MLB team in 2014 but he has never been carded, he is neither a free agent nor a prospect? Seems like a loophole - was this intended or is this just a series of unfortunate events that removes more than a couple of intriguing players from the prospect pool?

Yep, one big league plate appearance is all it takes to remove eligibility for the prospect draft.
