Non-catcher hitters: 75 PA or more IN regardless of salary

Non-catcher hitters 50-74 PA: IN unless salary exceeds $7M

Ok so a couple of notes:

- I definitely want your input on the rules proposal

- Please remember this is not a majority vote system. I will certainly give plenty of weight to the majority voice but that doesn't mean I will follow it.

Here is my unofficial tally on opinions:

For Unleashed: Hawk, Niners, Palm, Cubit, Qk

For some kind of controls: Smokey, Stoney

While 5 of us have yet to weigh in, I do think it's interesting that 4 of 5 the owners in favor of Unleashed are owners that have tended towards the "under .500" range so far. And that really is no surprise - honestly IMHO the big advantage in Unleashed is that owners who missed out on good players in Supp or Prospect drafts can make up ground more quickly via the top picks in the FA draft. And I believe the end result is that we'll see more balanced competitiveness, which is a good thing for the health of the league long term.

The only thing holding me back right now is that this is the effing Hard Core Keeper League. I named it that way 'cuz I wanted the spirit of the league to be: dig deep, know your players (both ML level and minors/amateurs) and fight tooth & nail. So there is a part of me that doesn't want the talent pool to be so forgiving.

The one other thing balancing out the fluke card factor of full Unleashed is that you also get guys like Soler last year - this is a guy who was high on a prospect list, and was a Sept callup who mashed. There are several guys like this every year and we all have a pretty much equal shot at them. So it's not like all the fluke cards go in the 1st round of the FA draft.

Anyway, keep the conversation going, I have not reached a decision yet so want to hear more opinions.

Thx,
Qk

I go #2. While I'd be fine if we went full Unleashed, my preference would be to have some sort (however minimal) of controls, and would probably even say to drop the limit to $5 million. After all, the current proposed restriction would only eliminate 1 player (I think). Why bother at all?

But, as I said, I don't really care that much to make an issue of it

My preference is for either full unleashed, or no unleashed. No more of this drafting a guy and hoping his salary is less than X. So I guess I vote for unleashed all the way.

For the record, my performance in this league has no bearing on my vote, it's just a coincidence I suck in this league. I ALWAYS want all the cards in. It wouldn't matter if my winning percentage was .700 or .300. In fact, I'm a little insulted that the implication is that I want the unleashed cards in so I can possibly make a quick turn around when it's been my experience that unleashed aided turn-a-rounds don't happen. I simply want all the cards in.
I hate the guessing game on salary, I want it to be simpler for draft prep.

Yeah I know it's the "Hard core" league and you guys can keep kicking my ass in that regard on the prospect front, but when they get to the MLB level, let's just get them in the league.

Maybe I'm missing something but since we draft before the cards come out why would an "under .500" team (or anyone for that matter) risk a high pick on a player who might not be carded. Figuring out the algorithm for unleashed inclusion, now that's hardcore.

The first 2 years I was in the league no players available sheet was provided. Hardcore. The last 2 years one has been provided. So now there isn't as much of a need to dig deep. I can see how a list of available players being provided for draft tracking and bookkeeping purposes makes sense but leave off the OB, TB and fielding data.

Agree with Palm on the Hard Core status. Giving everyone the Strat rating info so everyone's playing on an even field takes away from "hard core".
