1-0 can't compare to the many lead changes, the drama of being down to last strike (which had never happened before in WS history, then happened twice in that game in back-to-back innings). David Freese is the man. 10-9 in 11 innings, in 2011, for the Cards 11th title.

A lot of pundits have changed their minds on that. Schilling, Larkin, and Kruk were talking right after 2011 Game 6 saying it was the best ever, as did Tim McCarver. The main thing is, you had to be watching it (networks had it on late) live (so as not to know the outcome), taking all of that into account it is unequalled. I was pissed when the Rangers went up 7-4. Then the Furcal left the bases loaded in the 8th at 7-5. That seemed horrible. Then 2-on 2-out 1-2 count vs Feliz, and BOOOOOOM, Freese crushes a triple to tie. My house was jumping. Then Hamilton's 2-run shot in the top of the 10th, dead silence. We had .220 hitter Descalso(lefty) coming up, then Jay(lefty) who was 1-16 in WS, then the pitcher's spot (lead-off spot) with no one left on the bench, vs a lefty pitcher. Descalso single, Jay bloop, Lohse sac bunt, Theriot force for a run, Pujols Int Walk, and 2-2 count with 2 outs to Berkman...BOOM. Then bottom of 11th, 3-2 count..."We'll See You Tomorrow Night" Freese HR. And, yes, I may be biased, but it was, to me, the best event ever (except USA vs USSR).

But ALL the games mentioned were awesome. The great thing about baseball. The way the drama builds, is incredible. And when it is your team, it is magic.

DJ, I sent you 3 new proxies. If any of the others are still valid cancel them. I'll be out a few hours starting now.

Richard has the correct answer. The best baseball game of all time was Game 6 of the 1975 series. Left the Red Sox one game away from their first championship in the modern era, at Fenway, against the big Red Machine, the best starting 8 of all time. Morgan, Bench, Rose, plus Perez, Foster in his prime, Concepcion (best ss of the decade), Geronimo and Griffey Sr.

Best sporting event of my lifetime - Henry Aaron's 715th home run. I think you have to be old enough to understand that one. Still the all-time home run champ in my mind.

I think I'd challenge the "best starting 8" contention. They were very good, but there have been a lot of great teams. And I still think that 2011 Game 6 was superior. Out by 10.5 games Aug 25, then have to play the Phillies. Beat Halladay in game 5 as Carpenter pitches, maybe the best game in postseason (at least last couple decades), then underdogs to the Brewers, then underdogs to the Rangers...down to their last strike TWICE.

And I can't imagine a regular season homerun even coming close to rivalling the USA beating the best hockey team in the world. But that is sports. Everyone has an opinion, and most of those are very different. 100 yr olds would probably pick Ruth calling his shot or something.
