I came 1 run from the Finals with them this past league

..and my team made the finals with the Marlins...who went unpicked :!:

Some thoughts for future of the dual-franchise league -
-->The dates could be modified to have players earlier than 1946 (doesn't have to be all ages, but could pick a different starting year such as sometime in the 1930's
-->Could add a Negro league option to the franchises
-->Lowering the cap significantly will make the lesser franchises more palatable

Having the Marlins undrafted certainly changes my team perspective with Sheffield now in the fold.

While Negro League players seem curious and there are multiple ways to try involving them. Starting earlier than 1946 simply magnifies the dominance of the haves over the have-nots. If you look at just the players between 1939 and 1945, it is clear that most of the best of them are confined to only a few teams. This becomes even more pronounced in years prior to 1939. In addition, a lower cap only partially balances the advantages of the best teams while ensuring that more of the best players can't be afforded simultaneously. No format is perfect, but, after 30+ seasons (I've only been in a handful), the combination of years and cap allows reasonable variety and balance and ensures most of the stars get to play.

Another consideration might be to allow drafting (in some form) players whose rights belong to unpicked teams after the selection of all teams. Thus eliminating the inheriting of a player whose team has the second highest price card and the intrigue associated with that, but also giving a chance for someone like Cal Ripken Jr to play somewhere in the leagues.

Perhaps the draft of those unwanted team's players could be by autodraft or with any of those players allowed after the results of game 3.

If we went with an option like that, I would prefer no more than one per roster to maintain the integrity of franchises.
