Actually, on the one hand, I probably should not have commented at all.

On the other hand, if we view talent so differently, that might be an ideal set of circumstances for us to trade folks so that both of us would think we got a great deal!

That's a fair question. Samardzija's off to a nice start in 2014, but neither FanGraphs nor Rotowire project that he can keep that up. He typically gives up a lot of home runs over a season and he plays for arguably the worst team in MLB. Eventually, that's going to drag him down a bit, too.

Myers, on the other hand, is a 23-year-old kid who is having a terrible 2014 after his rookie-of-the-year season but is still projected to be a long-term star. Looking ahead, the Purple Haze have a solid squad which should be good for some time to come. I would rather invest in a young multi-season star than an older pitcher who might be able to pull off a decent season before he regresses to his normal level.

Just my $0.02, but I think both trades were fair trades. Really who knows how trades are going to work out for, and why people are making trades. I've made terrible trades in the past, even thinking that it's a bad trade on my part because I felt I needed a player to make a playoff run. (Championship banners fly forever) .

For me I thought I had a decent team going into season 1 but came up short in making the playoffs. I decided I didn't really like the make up of my team and am trying to overhaul it between seasons.

...Also I'm willing to move Braun in the right deal. Basically the right deal is a players of comparable value who plays LF this year and next. Braun will be playing RF next year and I think I'm set with Stanton.
