just for clarification since it seemed to be an issue in the prospect draft...I Contend you cannot lose an upcoming pick in a round because your roster is full until that pick comes up. thus, I can trade a player for picks or a 2 for 1 to get my roster down by the time that pick is made. plus, since I own it, I should be able to trade it, or the slot, until it arrives. yes?

Almost correct.

If your turn rolls around and you do not have 40 players on your roster, then you may make a pick. On the other hand, if your current roster plus x number of picks remaining is greater than 40, then only those picks that will get you to 40 are actually valid. All others are not available, after that current + remaining total = 40.

For example, Meat, when you picked Morse he became your 38th player. When you make pick #79 and #80, then your roster will be full.

Picks #90, 100, and 104 have your name on them but they have no value , since (at the present time), your roster will be full before you get to them.

Or, as it says in the league rules under Player Movement:

2) You cannot trade draft choices that you do not own...
