Happy New Year everyone - I'm looking forward to getting back to our league soon. Please confirm that you are returning to this league so we can determine if we need any replacement owners and please vote on the below-proposed rule change. A "yes" means in favor of the change. We need 16 to pass it.
Rule change proposal:
Travelingjack brought this prospect rule issue to my attention. I previously incorrectly stated that prospects could be promoted at the end of the free agent draft. That is not wholly accurate as discussed below. I propose making the following rule change to make it simpler.
Current rule: Prospects must be promoted if they have been carded for more than one season. These prospects must be promoted, traded, or cut by the keeper/cut deadline.
Proposed new rule: Prospects must be promoted if they have been carded for more than one season. These prospects must be promoted by the end of the free agent draft and added to the 30-man roster.
Basically the proposed change is to make it easier for me to keep track of prospect promotions. With this change, prospects can be promoted any time so long as there is room on the 30-man roster. As it currently sits, any prospect who has been carded for one season can (but does not have to) be promoted by the end of the free agent draft. Any prospect who has been carded for two seasons must be promoted to the 20-man roster prior to the free agent draft.
Example – I have Javier Baez and Kris Bryant. This will be the 2nd year Baez has a card so I have to add him to my 20-man keepers prior to FA draft. This will be Bryant’s first year and so can be promoted at the end of the FA draft to fill out 30-man roster.
*** To keep things on the up and up, I will add Baez to my 20-man roster even if the proposed change passes, so as not to seem like I am proposing this rule in my own self-interest.
