I was trying to figure out how my team got to be in it's current state so I looked at the initial draft in 2010 and found the answer. Half of my first 10 picks had career years that season. Kelly Johnson, Daniel Hudson, Jaime Garcia, Andres Torres and Jhoulys Chacin. It's been downhill ever since. Here is the link to the old league thread if you want to revisit where you came from:

I really liked that first draft, too, Palmtana. My guys started strong and kept it up through 6 seasons.With winning records in each season, we're at 530-442 for a .545 W/L pct. so far. We won 2 division titles and made it to the playoffs 3 times (once in each card set) -- although we lost in the semi's in each attempt

I invested in some single-season guys to boost my chances in the 2012 card set and that left me in sad shape coming into the 2013 one. In my initial review of the squad, I saw a pedestrian starting rotation and a batting order with 3 stars, 3 platoons, and 3 holes -- so I moved into rebuilding mode.

After trading off the 3 stars, I've added 8 young ballplayers who have a chance to star in 2014, to add to 6 other youngsters who were already on the roster. And beyond that, I have 3 picks in the 1st round of the prospect draft. The 2013 card set will not be a pretty one for us, but I have high hopes for the 2014 one!
