Draft is over I think. Neither can upbid the other, all roster spots filled. Phil should start the prospect draft.

Prospect draft can't be done till the cards come out and arbitrations are settled. That's the rule change we made last year to make it costly to go over the cap.

Ah, got it. Once Phil starts an arb thread and calculates the extension numbers I'll be ready

I’m a little swamped at work now. I’ll finalize the rosters tonight and move forward from there.

Gentlemen, thanks for making this free agent signing period relatively smooth. So I thought this free agent period seemed longer than previous seasons and it turned out to be true. We signed nearly 50 more free agents this year than last.

2020: 106 players signed at an average of $2,050,000
2021: 117 players signed at an average of $2,893,000
2022: 138 players signed at an average of $2,366,000
2023: 126 players signed at an average of $2,708,000
2024: 174 players signed at an average of $2,946,000

Freddie Freeman was signed for $11,602,500 a year for the richest free agent contract in league history.

The next steps are:

1. Arbitration settlements (as soon as cards are released).
2. Prospect Draft (immediately after the arbitration settlements are finalized).
3. 2025 MLB season contract extensions and arbitration decisions (typically March 31st, but we will aim for 3/18).
4. April 1st Opening Day!

I will develop the list of salaries by position for 2025 contract extension decisions asap and post it on the contract extension thread.

If I read the rosters correctly, only 2 teams have players eligible for arbitration:
- teamnasty: 2 players, with more than $21 mil available to pay them
- paul long: 4 low-value players, with $9.5 mil available to pay them

Is that correct?

That's correct.

Neither team is likely to blow past the salary cap. Why wait to start the prospect draft?
