I'm sorry to be "dense" but I don't really understand the second change. Can someone please provide me with an example?
Re the first change, I am in favour of this.
Re the second change, I think I could be in favour of this, but I need to understand it better.

To be honest, though, it just seems to me that with 24 teams, it's almost like the old "reserve clause". There isn't a whole lot of player movement, and most valuable young prospects are already spoken for by the time they get a card. Not many exceptions - just a few each year.
I think that you could achieve more volatility, make things more interesting, and make the FA draft more valuable if you could introduce more player mobility. In that case, it would more closely mimic the way free agency shakes things up in real life. I don't need to start a new vote to be satisfied - I just thought I'd share my thoughts for the sake of stimulating thinking and discussion, even if it doesn't lead to any changes.
Here are some examples of ideas in my head:
-limit the number of protetected players each year to a number less than 20 - say 15, or 17.
or
-Really randomize things, by having all players who SWITCH leagues in real life from one year to the next become free agents in the year they switch - or maybe the subsequent year (might mimic the effect of a player who is nearing the end of his contract and becomes an unrestricted free agent). I.e. they become "unprotectable" in the year that the league switch occurs, or perhaps in the year following that.
Just some ideas, that might make the leagues more fluid and volatile from year to year.
I also want to say that I respect the managers that came before me in this league, and that I don't want to make any veterans to this league unhappy. I would rather keep it the same than ruin it for someone else.
As for my ideas, at some point in the future I might want to start a new 24 team keeper league that uses some of these ideas, and maybe with the drafting and league play starting later in the calendar year - like maybe in May - for personal preference reasons. On the other hand, if people grab onto these ideas and like them a lot, and if it doesn't upset anyone, all the better.
Cheers everyone!
Geoff
