Rules:

NL players only. We will play the regular set, never the unleashed set. Unleashed players, are available to be drafted in bench building draft, but of course, cant be on the active roster, till they receive a card from SOM that is not in the unleashed set.

Houston players for our first season as a league (2 seasons on SOM), as with all players cut/traded by NL teams to AL teams, also, must be cut before the start of our FA draft next spring.

We will play 2 seasons a year. One soon as our draft is over, the 2nd, the 1st week of Oct. Division assignements for our 1st season, will be 1,4,7,10...2,5,8,11...3,6,9,12 Divisions for the 2nd season this year, and all years, will be by record, 4 worst teams, will be the East, for playoff teams, will be West, Central will be the other 4. Ties broken by run differential.

Our initial draft, is 26 rounds (25 players, 1 stadium) Serpentine style draft set by randomizer our opening season.
Draft a stadium whenever you want. No clock first 3 rounds. After that, clock runs 7 days a week, 10A-10P EST, 2 hour clock.

Stadiums are lifetime contracts, unless, the bp effects change by +/-6 in one category, or, by +/-15 in all four categories combined. In keeping with the theme, NL only stadiums. Stadium drops, must be made during the FA draft before season 1, of any given year. Replacement owners, may choose at new stadium when they enter the league, before, the FA draft.

During the initial season, after game 42, we will have a bench building draft of 10 rounds, NFL style, draft order, will be by record, worst to first, after game 42 is played. Ties will be broken by +/- run differential. Unleashed players, may be drafted. After the bench draft, we will have 35 players on our roster. After the Bench Draft, any legal SOM team roster is allowed.

Moves within your organization are unlimited, as we will play with the 200 mill cap. Keep in mind, all SOM rules apply. 11 pitchers, 14 hitters, two catchers, 25 min, 28 max etc etc etc...

A 5 round prospect draft, will be held at the end of season 1. A prospect, is any player, that has never had a SOM card. Again, NFL style, worst to first, ties broken by run differential. Once a prospect gets a card, he must either be promoted, or cut.

Before next season (2013 cards) cuts are to be made 1 week after SOM makes the new cards available online.

10 round FA draft, with the draft order, determined by the combined record of our two seasons, NFL style, ties broken by run differential of the combined seasons.

Other rules may be brought up by any member of the league, and voted on by all, with a 7/5 majority for any further rules to pass

Draft order at determined by randomizer.

Looks great Michael! While I'm eating my snickers these 1st 3 rounds :D , just thought I'd bring this up now since you and I have both run into it recently. That is the allowance for any new ownership to change the ballpark for the team they take over. Hopefully we don't lose anyone, but life happens!

Looks really good Michael!

One clarification please - after the bench building draft (fascinating timing by the way), are we still required to keep precisely 11 pitchers and 14 hitters on the big club, or can we have a different 25 player mix after that (within strat rules) - e.g. can we then go to 10/15 or 12/13?

When are we going to start the draft -? just for a heads up to plan for it.

Michael...didn't see anything on divisional alignment for this or future seasons...going to assume for the initial season it will be 1,4,7,10...2,5,8,11...3,6,9,12 unless we hear different.

Thanks!

Ernie

geoff- any legal roster by SOM standards will be fine after the bench draft. And I decided the timing of the bench building draft to give the teams struggling the most to either plan for A) the future, or B) make a run at the wild card of first season. Till we play game 42, real MLB spring training will be close to over, and the start of the real MLB season may be upon us. We will get to see which rookie won a job, or who got injured.

edub- yes, I will add that right now. New replacement owners may change stadiums when they take over a team. And yes again, divisions as you just stated the 1st season of this year, the 2nd by w/l record. Future years, will be by combined record of the previous years 2 seasons combined. The 4 worst teams by record, will be the east, the 4 best teams will be the West, with the other 4, making up the Central. Ties for the 4 best teams, will be the teams that made the playoffs. Other ties, broken by run differential.
