Cheetah League Chat - Waivers Sun

REPOST OF RULES:

Preface: This is a Brand New Jeep Theme League! It is a super quick draft where you draft most of your team in two rounds. Yes, you heard it right - two rounds - most of your team.

Name of this theme league: The Cheetah League (because it's a quick draft)

Cheetah League Rules:

1. $80M Cap - Very Important as you'll see below.

2. There will be a two round live draft on the boards. Order of drafting from a randomizer by someone not in league.

3. Each Owner/Manager drafts 10 players at a time in each round. First round all hitters and second round all pitchers. All 10 of these players must be included on your draft card going into the autodraft process.

4. Pick your park in Round 1 with your hitters. Parks are unique, so no duplicates.

5. Divisions will be randomized.

6. Draft is serpentine so whomever picks 12th in Round 1 gets first pick of pitchers in Round 2.

7. Drafted players MUST be a max of $77.5 mil in order to draft a legal team within the $80mil cap.

8. Teams must have 10 pitchers and 10 hitters going into the autodraft. Therfore, Pre-waivers trading is allowed, but only if each roster has the 10/10 balance.

That's it! Two rounds you have 20 players. Remaining five (4 hitters/1 pitcher) players you'll include on your autodraft card at the top as live drafted players go at the bottom.

regarding how you want players listed (position, money spent, etc...)

and make sure you check out SOMs message about tomorrow, may delay our draft a bit tomorrow.

A couple of things everyone. Try and list players you pick vertically with dollar amount spent.

Obviously we must draft a legal team within the 80M salary cap. Therefore the max your 20 players can be is 77.5mil. I have added this disclaimer to the rules section as rule #7 above.

I will also start a players taken list once the draft starts.

Note I have created two other threads: a Roster List of each Owner and a players taken list for reference.

Wow Gary spent over $68mil on his hitters. Hope he realizes that's around 1 mil each per pitcher.

There will be no other option than for Gary to trade trade trade his hitters for pitchers.


I wouldn't be surprised at the deals that will come about. The question is, what will be left for those in the middle and bottom of both lists?

Yea I did the same thing... but opposite park strategy figuring I can use the pitchers park as an advantage for what will be my shitty pitching.

Yeah I suspect that I will have cheap hitters or hitters with a lot of injuries to pick from, so I think I will be in same place as Gary but for pitchers, so I will get all the pitchers I want but likely none of the hitters I want. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and if order correlates with wins. My initial thought was that hitters early will perform better than pitchers early, but we shall see what happens. I suspect the hitters parks will go early and pitcher parks go later.

Another theme league I would try is to draft by position instead of one list of players, this may have been done previously but I have seen this done outside of SOM and has worked well. The randomizer for 26 positions is difficult but could be done so that everyone's average position is approximately the same, ranking the positions for each manager plays into this as well.
