It is opening day for the inaugural season of the Strat-O-Master League using the 2012 Strat-O-Matic player cards. 12 master strategists vying to become the reigning "Strat-O-Master". Good luck to all who have worked so hard to assemble their master teams.

It looks like this is all set up correctly.
We're off to a quick start tonight, although with the exception of the Desert-Cubs/Nats/A's series it seems like offence was in short supply I'm thinking that won't last...

In the East, the 2 teams tied for first place (EB and Down & nate's west) play the 2 teams tied for last place. A chance for the Kangaroos & the Green Team to even things out.
In the Central, the front running Arsenal and BEES battle it out for first place. Either the KAW's Gators or the Wonders will exit from the basement.
In the West, the DESERT and the Cigaros - tied for first place - square off. The Zorros will face the Cubs Nats A's 2. One of them will crawl out of the cellar.
Hats off to the Cigaros - who won 2 tough games against my Zorros. In the last one, the lead changed hands 5 times.

It's only been 6 games, but here are some highlights from day 2:
The Small Ball Wonders and the Arizona Desert get the first sweeps of the season.
The Eastbound and Down spanked the Pollard Kangaroos 17-4. The Kangaroos promptly came back to win the next game as you would expect of a team being led by a master strategist.
The Ballwin KAW's Gators scored only 6 runs in their 3 game series with the Small Ball Wonders.
It's hot in the Arizona Desert where the team with that name is 5-1.
The Ballwin KAW's Gators are stuck in a swamp with their 1-5 record.
Tonight's battles for first place:
The 3-3 misslonlyhearts nate's west face the 4-2 Eastbound and Down.
The 3-3 District Arsenal match up against the 4-2 Small Ball Wonders.
The 3-3 NKP Zorros try to cool off the 5-1 hot Arizona Desert.

In the East, Eastbound & Down has a 2 game lead over the other 3 teams in their division.
In the Central, the Small Ball Wonders and the BOSTON BEES are tied for first with the District Arsenal 2 games back.
In the West, the NKP Zorros hold a 1 game lead over the Arizona Desert.

Just a few notes concerning last night's action:
While on the road, the Pollard Kangaroos - who have been a little inconsistent early in the season - swept what has been a tough Eastbound and Down team to take a 1 game lead in the East. The Kangaroos outscored their opponent 27-12 in the 3 game series.
Despite having a seemingly good draft (based on their #12 waiver ranking) and spending more money on players than anyone else, the KAW's Gators got off to a slow start going 2-7. However, they turned it around yesterday with a 3 game sweep over The District Arsenal moving to within 3 games of first place in the Central.
Also in the Central, 2 heavyweights squared off. The Small Ball Wonders and the BOSTON BEES were tied for first. In game 2 of that series, Ian Desmond smacked a 2 out home run in the bottom of the 11th inning giving the Wonders a 1-0 victory. Note that it was a (bpHR 1-2) that won the game. Ouch. Small Ball took the series 2 games to 1 and now are all alone at the top of the division.
Lastly, mastermosser46 - the master strategist of the Small Ball Wonders - has seemingly become annoyed at my sending of messages to your inboxes when I make a posting in this forum. I respect his criticism and I realize that it may also be shared by others within the league. As such, I will discontinue the practice of sending such messages. If you would like to be notified of postings, let me know and I'll send them only to those who so desire.
