A review of the league set-up and rules...

This is a franchise league with a salary cap of $167 million with a DH. There are 13 franchises listed below; each was formed by combining ATG teams based on nickname/mascot similarities and the combined franchise name is intended to be at least descriptive if not somewhat whimsical! Each franchise in this league will also be supplemented by a free agent pool comprised of players from the NeL, the Braves franchise, the Indians franchise and whichever teams comprise the unselected franchise among the 13 listed here. In an attempt to level the field, the number of free agents will be either 1 or 2; the first six franchises selected will get one free agent, while the last six will get two apiece. The free agent selection will occur on the ILC in reverse order. So, the owner getting first pick of franchises will get the 12th free agent pick. Franchises selected 7-12 will also get their second pick after the first round of the FA selection on the ILC; for example, if I get the 12th pick of franchises, I'll get the 1st and 13th pick of free agents, the owner selecting 11th will get the 2nd and 14th FA pick et cetera.
Franchises
The Elusive Scramblers - comprised of all Dodgers and Senators
Dangerous Dudes - comprised of all Tigers and Diamondbacks
Gotham Vacationers - comprised of all Yankees and Marlins
Mounted Protectors - comprised of all Phillies and Rangers
Clerical Clubbers - comprised of all Cardinals and Padres
Winged Warriors -comprised of all Orioles and Blue Jays
Claws, Paws and Horns - comprised of all Cubs and Royals
High Seas Sluggers - comprised of all Pirates and Mariners
Candy Cane Hosers - comprised of all Red Sox and White Sox
Shaded Swatters - comprised of all Reds and Browns
Towering Titans - comprised of all Giants and Rockies
Studs and Suds - comprised of all Athletics and Brewers
Outer Limits - comprised of all Angels, Expos and Astros

Player eligibility - Player with multiple cards belong to the franchise which holds his highest salary. This will be his only playing option; if, for example, the Towering Titans franchise leaves Bonds off of its roster, the High Seas Sluggers cannot use him. Bonds will then have to watch the season from the comfort of the Juice Bar (sorry, couldn't resist!) Players not carded to any of the listed franchises - players like Guy Hecker - are eligible for the draft.

Let's pick 'em!

Yes - another good question, Vinnie! Yes, teams are required to select a stadium from among those used by the teams comprising their franchise.

Regarding this rule, mrharryc:

"Player eligibility - Player with multiple cards belong to the franchise which holds his highest salary. This will be his only playing option; if, for example, the Towering Titans franchise leaves Bonds off of its roster, the High Seas Sluggers cannot use him. Bonds will then have to watch the season from the comfort of the Juice Bar (sorry, couldn't resist!) Players not carded to any of the listed franchises - players like Guy Hecker - are eligible for the draft."

In your example above - only the Giants (Towering Titans) can play Barry Bonds since they are the high card holder. Can they use any of his cards (including the Pirate card) or just "the high card?"

Another good question, Musial6! Franchises who control a player can use any of his cards.

Now that I pick 12th, in looking at the teams, even with 1 extra draft pick, there is such a disparity in talent between the top teams and their partners, like the Yankees, Dodgers, Giants, Red Sox, Cardinals and Cubs, that I fear the league will be very top heavy, with a handful of teams winning A LOT of games and several teams having 90+ losses.

For the most part, not only do the better teams have superior hitting, but better pitching as well when compared to the bottom teams. I fear that some of the bottom teams may have a hard time filling out the salary cap, even 28 roster spots..

I'm bot sure which team I'll get, but I have a feeling my first draft pick will be Josh Gibson.

Wake me up when it's my pick.

Bernie, keep in mind the bottom six teams get two picks, not just one. So Josh will have a partner to join whichever squad you get. With all the Braves and Indians, along with the NeL players, non-assigned players and whichever franchise groupings don't get selected, I think there should be some quality players to pick up.

I will do the same and offer anyone in the bottom half my spot if they feel it necessary.

Does the Elusive Scrambler franchise (Dodgers/Senators) include the Twins?

Thanks, evildrive for another good question. I should have been more specific; the Twins are not included in that franchise grouping, but their players - Twins EXP players with highest salary cards - are available in the FA pool.
