Is this a different league from the FOWL Keeper league we just finished drafting? Where I had the #12 pick.

sorry, same draft. I forgot we had a switch of owners from the original sign-up. The order is edited to reflect that now.

Just to be clear. A player like JP Crawford, who didn't debut until September but will have 2017 card, cannot be used in a game next season ?

The answer from fowldawg was "correct," but I understand someone like Crawford could be drafted as a prospect, then if he does have a card, why wouldn't he just be promoted and play in next year's set?

Here is my thinking:

We started the draft on 8/20; the purpose of the draft was to create a 40-man pool from which you would pick your rosters. Any player who appeared after 8/20 was ineligible for this draft so an unfair advantage was not created by a stud becoming available in the 35th round of the draft.

Players appearing after this date were eligible for prospect draft only. My thinking behind keeping all of these players ineligible for the upcoming carded season is to keep things equitable and to keep the draft about their prospective talent, not a one-year unleashed card.

If we want these players to be eligible, I am willing to listen to your thoughts... however, at minimum a 40-man pick will need to be dropped.

And it’s any player who hasn’t played in an MLB game before 8/20? Signed to a team or not?

Correct, anyone in the world without a MLB appearance prior to 8/20 is eligible.
