Greetings...
Thanks for your patience and interest in continuing this theme.
Update on owners: RichardGagnon has not indicated an interest in participating in the 60s version of our league. Burley Norseman had expressed an interest in joining this league--he will take over for Richard.
Roster update: Again, a big thanks to LM Bombers for his assistance in getting the rosters finalized. I will be sending the team rosters to you tonight. I have your e-mail addresses from the 70s league roster message.
Based on review of the rosters, the Mets, Astros and Senators do not have a chance of being competitive and won't be available for selection. All other teams will be available for selection.
New feature of this league:
After analyzing the results in the 70s league, teams, as noted below, will be able to add one player from the roster of the Mets, Astros or Senators. The amount of money which an owner can use on this player varies between teams.
The following teams will not participate in the supplemental draft:
San Francisco Giants
Chicago White Sox
Cincinatti Reds
Detroit Tigers
Milwaukee Braves
The following teams can supplement their roster with one player with a maximum value of $3,000,000
Baltimore Orioles
Los Angeles Dodgers
Boston Red Sox
The following teams can supplement their roster with one player with a maximum value of $4,000,000
St. Louis Cardinals
Pittsburgh Pirates
New York Yankees
Minnesota Twins
The following teams can supplement their roster with one player with a maximum value of $7,000,000
Cleveland Indians
Chicago Cubs
Los Angeles Angels
Kansas City Athletics
Philadelphia Phillies
Only one player can be selected and added to your roster. You are free to trade the player you choose in the supplemental draft. You cannot purchase multiple lower value players with the allocated funds.
We will run a randomizer after the team draft to establish the order of the teams with the right to select a supplemental player.
Based on research at Baseball Reference, players were assigned to the team they played with the most from 1960 through 1969. Some minor adjustments were made to ensure each team would have a backup catcher/backup infielders. Here are the rules of the league
Team draft: We need to wait for the conclusion of the 70s playoffs to finalized the draft order. However, we can run the randomizer to determine the order of selection for the 8 non-playoff teams. As a reminder, the draft order will be randomized between the 8 non-playoff teams.
Salary Cap: $140 million--
Waivers or Frenzy: Frenzy since you will control all players on the team you select.
DH: This league will NOT use the DH--pitchers will hit.
Team name: Please use the name of the team you select--please note the Angels are from Los Angeles, the Athletics are from Kansas City and the Braves from Milwaukee.
Ballpark: Please select the ballpark of the team you choose-if you pick the Chicago White Sox, you would choose Comiskey Park.
Trades: Allowed--no restrictions--you control the players so feel free to trade to improve your team.
Roster size: No restrictions beyond normal Strat rules
Players not listed on the roster of the 12 teams selected are not eligible for this league. The only players available to you are the players assigned to the team you select. Players from eligible but undrafted teams are not available for selection.
