I have Tony Pena set as a defensive sub at catcher. I also have my other two catchers set to "Rem. 4 def sub with lead", because I want Pena (and only Pena) to replace them if I'm ahead in the late innings. Seems logical. So far so good.
But two of my catchers (Pena and Wilbert Robinson) were injured in the last series. That didn't stop HAL from removing my last healthy catcher, Darren Fletcher, for non-catchers (Pete Ward and Willie Bloomquist) in the late innings of all three games! Ward and Bloomquist did a valiant job behind the plate after being thrust into a unfamiliar role, but Bloomquist did commit a costly error with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th in the second game allowing the winning run to score.
Because of injuries and inexcusably bad programming, my best efforts to ensure solid defense at the end of the game resulted in the exact opposite, a non-catcher inserted behind the plate, leading to the worst possible defense instead. If Strat is going to raise the prices for this game, they need to fix the broken programming like this. It's pretty embarrassing for them.
