Fantasim?

You can't make this up:

I'm in an ATG theme league, needed to change my ballpark after drafting so I email customer service. They immediately perform the fix and courteously mention to let us know if there is anything else they can do for me. So I reply with yet another request to let us know about Fantasim or at least credit the gang of 11. Here's my reply:

No, we were not aware that you and other users had paid for and had entered a league that did not carry over. Thank you for letting us know now as no one had previously written in that this was a league that was paid for and later 'stuck' when the transition occurred to our website. We sincerely apologize for this oversight as this should not have happened. Of course we will get you and the others their credit back as soon as possible. We will need to go back through the Sporting News records and database which may take some time but please be assured you will receive this lost credit. In the meantime do you happen to have a list of the ten other users are were stuck in this league with you? Again we are extremely sorry for this and thank you for your extreme patience in waiting for this credit.

Of course, they must have forgotten about my email from a year ago (to which they replied actually):

Hi there! Can you please give me some indication as to when the Fantasim game will be returned? We have a league with 11 out of 12 managers in it and would love to see the game start back up (along with adding some long overdue improvements of course).

My theory? For the past year, this has been a fun office joke for Strat, watching the repeated attempts to kick some life into Fantasim or to at least get a credit. With some dumb luck, I think my email was received by a new intern who wasn't privy to the joke and now the gig is up.



So...who else was in the gang of 11? I can't remember everyone who was playing back then.

Maybe it was Turbo who pulled the plug? Remember the great Turbo fiasco?

I would gladly accept an additional credit for winning the last fanta league, as well as the 11 team league. Regardless of what this new management team does. So much was lost when the clowns just magically allowed Fanta to disappear, and not return.
The pleading, the begging, the on your knees thing, the guys are just COLD.

I was not in the 11 actually (missed it by that much), but you can add Scott Thompson to the group, I could guess at some others, but it was ages ago........

God I miss FantaSim. PJ, I've been away for awhile (never played any other SOM games) but I truly appreciate your efforts to resurrect. The leagues were a blast. To be honest, I think I'm one of the "Limbo Eleven" but I don't know for sure anymore. I'll keep my fingers crossed that someday this great game can be restored.

Steve, send them an email. They'll give you a credit, and while you're at it, plug Fantasim. Fantasim was a great game that is sinking in unwarranted quicksand. We don't want the greatness of Fantasim to disappear like the cure for Scurvy, only to be resurrected in the future.
