With Ernie's passing it is only fitting that we once again begin to lobby for a 50's Mystery set. Even if we have to dip into the final years of the 40's to get the player numbers up I still think it would be a great set.

I agree ! Maybe it could be called the ,"Post War Mystery Set" and include players that had at least several seasons between say 1945 and 1960. Jackie Robinson, Stan Musial, Ted Williams, Al Rosen, Bob Feller, Larry Doby, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Roy Campanella, Whitey Ford, Pee Wee Reese, and many others!

Great suggestion RB! A post war mystery game circa approx. 1945-1959 would be very interesting and provide a few more players than even the 60s game. This would be great!!!

Nobody under 45 is going to play a 50's set. However, my father-in-law is an irascible, bitter Florida retiree with too much time on his hands. So, It could help me help him find a new hobby.

I agree. To me the main draw to this game is the ability to capture some of the history of baseball. If I want to see current players, I'll turn on the TV. Growing up, I could only read about past greats like Cobb, Ruth, Gehrig, Lajoie, Hornsby and many others. A 50's mystery game would give us a chance to play some of guys I only saw play in their forties, just before they retired. Although ATG offers the history of the game, a 50's format would give us a more narrow option. I would like to see an earlier mystery option also, like the 20's and 30's combined or something like that.

Probably the best way to encourage a 50s set is to support the 60s game. If the 60s doesn't meet SOM's sales expectations, I doubt they'll invest in an earlier decade.
