70's/80's- 5 Game Playoff Series

Relatively new to SOM (26 Teams) and much prefer Mystery Game leagues 70's/80's.

However, I've decided to terminate my participation in these leagues because the 5-game playoff series produced too many random results. To invest 2 months analyzing, managing and strategizing to earn a playoff bid, only to lose in a random result is simply a waste of time.

Most recently, my 102 win team had a +267 Diff., only to be swept by a team with a -4 Diff. scoring 6 runs in 3 games to a team with a 5.09 ERA and 1.57 WHIP.

Is there any reason these leagues are not adjusted to 7-games like the rest of the sets?

stratorat, If you were swept in a 5 game series that would mean that you would be down 3 games to none if it were a 7 game series. Do you really think you would have won 4 games in a row if it had been a 7 game series? I don't think so.

That being said.....I would also prefer a change to make all playoff series best of 7 too.

Also, some teams just don't match up well. I've had some bad teams that were 8-4 or 9-3 head to head against the best team in the league, and I've had division winners that were 3--9 or 2-10 against a below .500 team head to head.
