Does the 2 represent the range?

I think the Help should do a better job in explaining this. Below it says defensive range rating is the first number but it isn't the first number, right?

Defensive range rating (the first number) -- A player with a "1" rating would have the ability to make plays on the most balls; a "5" rating has minimal range.

Defensive error rating (the "e" and the number following the range rating) -- Predicts how many errors that player would make at that position if he were to play 162 games there (a "0" is the best).

Also, bring back the examples like the following: "In this example, you see that Don Drysdale's range is 2".

An even better way to describe player cards would be to have the user mouse over something on the card and then a Help bubble would pop-up explaining what part they moused over.

Maybe defense from the pitcher position isn't as important but I thought that maybe the Player Set Browser would have a defense sort for pitchers.

The ratings guide gives the defense for pitchers. For the pitcher in your example, the rating would be 2-43; that is, 2e43.
