FA drop penalty settings

I'm a newbie. Trying to figure out the implications of the FA drop penalty. My league settings are 5/10/20% but i have no idea what those setting mean. The rules say "The percentage you receive back depends on your league's FA Drop Penalty settings. " What do these setting mean? thanks rj

It's a sliding scale: 5% penalty til Game (can't remember), then 10% til game whatever, then 20%. Don't remember the actual games where penalty increases, but someone else will post soon I'm sure.

ok thanks .... so it's not a drastic penalty. i kind of messed up the draft for my 1st team and i'm thinking i'm not gonna get what i need in the waiver draft so i'll need to pick up some free agents and drop a few of my poor draft picks. So most likely only a 5% penalty if i do it soon. Thanks again.
p.s. My second team is much better - ha ha - live and learn

The penalty only takes effect once the season starts. It's not in effect during waivers, preseason, etc

From memory the cut-offs are: 40 (to 10%), 80 (to 20%) and no more moves (140).

if your league hasn't started yet (or even if it has) check out the warp ratings post in the 365 forum. I can't speak to the math of it but I am seeing the players in my league conforming to their value ratings. you might find you have some negatives on your team. swapping them for positive value players would be well worth a 5 % penalty.

The drop penalties are picked by whoever creates the league: three options

Free Agent Drop Penalty
5/10/20% (default) - games 1-41: 5%, games 42-80: 10%, games 81+: 20%
10%
20%

Rosters are locked after game 142--no more transactions.

There are no penalties during the preseason, you are free to make moves until game 1 is played.
