Hey guys,
In case you missed it earlier this week we ran our 12th consecutive monthly lottery on Tuesday. For those that don't know about it, every month five Baseball Online users are randomly drawn and win a free credit! This month's winners can be found here. Sometimes we get questions on what everything means in the play-by-play after a game. The best way to explain it is to use an example so I'll use this one.
The first number shown is the number of outs in an inning. The next number is where the baserunners are. Raines leads off the inning so there are 0 outs and nothing is shown for the baserunners. Raines walks and steals second so there are still 0 outs but a man on second when Ibanez bats. Same for Cruz except there is now 1 out. When Everett comes to the plate there are 2 outs and a man on 3rd base.
After the batters name is the dice roll followed by the result and what happened to the batter and any baserunners. A note on the dice roll, this is not shown in the Mystery Games. When Cruz flies out, 2-3 means the runner went from 2nd base to 3rd base while b-0 means the batter is out. The next space is for any x-chance results while the last reading is the pitchers fatigue rating. Again, the x-chance is not shown in Mystery Card Games.
Now occasionally you may see a line like this one that ends an inning and not know why:
Here, Sweeney doubles but in the next column it shows that the runner on first base was thrown out. As all runners move the same number of bases as the batter does automatically, the runner of first must have been thrown out attempting to score. This is also shown in the Game Replay and can help explain when those 'mystery outs' occur when it seems an inning ended an out too early.
