Hey guys!

I'm back and have a new league to highlight this week, the Munhall - Lincoln Place League. I want to talk about a couple of things first before I get to that.

Many people watch the game replays or read the play-by-play from their games and occasionally we get an e-mail where the roll result on the card does not equal the result of the play. Although this doesn't happen often this can occur in situations where the game winning run is on 3rd base in a walk-off situation and there are less than 2 outs. When this situation arises, the computer manager automatically brings the outfield in to give it a better chance at throwing out a runner that could have tagged to score. The consequence of doing that is all readings that would have automatically scored the runner on a sac fly (and ending the game anyway) get changed to a single instead of a sac fly as the ball was hit over the outfielder's head.

Therefore in these situations it is possible to see a single on the play-by-play where it should have been a fly ball out. As the game would end either way, the computer always tries to have a better opportunity to cut down the run than record a meaningless out instead of allowing a single.

Another question that came up multiple times in the past week is about dropping a player. Every time post-waivers that you drop a player, you open that player up to be picked up by another team. If you drop a player and then intend to pick up another version of the player, swap them by picking up the new card at the same time. If you click that it's ok to drop this player before picking the new card up you are opening him up to another team. Even if the player is injured he can be picked up by someone else.

Now, back to the Munhall - Lincoln Place League. These group of players all grew up within 10 miles of each other near Pittsburgh, PA and after playing the board version of the game for many years are now in their 30th season of their Online Baseball League. A new season starts every three months where they rotate between All-Time Greats and the Mystery Leagues. The 30th season will be the first using the new Superstar Sixties player set!

Every other season for each decade is a keeper league where a manager keeps 3 players. The other seasons are an open draft to give each manager a fresh start. The 4 playoff teams set the following rules for the next season that player set is used:

Salary Cap
DH or Not
Waiver charge
1 miscellaneous rule

Some examples of this miscellaneous rule that they have used are:

*Winner kept his entire team the next time that player set was used while all other managers had to draft from scratch
*League held 4 round draft, then manager filled out their own draft cards like normal
*When it was a keeper season, each manager had to kept just 1 pitcher, 1 infielder and 1 outfielder
*Each manager had to use same stadium

The users with the most championships in this league are:

idrjim- 5
shoop- 5
geoff27 - 4
Kiski Cavs- 4
tstiffy- 4

Really great to see so many leagues that have played this many seasons! This league has an interesting twist allowing the playoff teams to set a miscellaneous rule. If anyone has a league they would like to have highlighted please let me know at onlinegamesupport@strat-o-matic.com. As always if you have any questions please e-mail us there as well. Talk to you all next Thursday!
