Hey guys,
For the most part, live drafts ran cleanly this past week however a bug was discovered last night.
First, the changes that we have and are in the process of making. The duplicate pick problem and solution that I had talked about last week did not completely fix the problem. However further testing has since been done and a new fix has been made that again we believe will solve this and prevent it from happening again. In addition, more safeguards were added to help make sure browsers stay connected with the draft servers. Requests are made to our draft servers every second and for the vast majority of people this works fine. However if a person has an internet connection hiccup the continuous connection to the servers may fail. While re-loading the page should reconnect the user, we have added code to help ensure these connections hold even if a user's internet service briefly blips.
A change we are currently planning is to prevent commissioners from changing their draft time after the league fills. This coding will ensure a change is not made to the draft time where a user who signed up for the league is no longer able to make the new time. When this goes into effect, commissioners will be able to contact us if the draft time needs to be changed and, after confirming with league members, we will be able to change the time for them.
As I said, a bug was discovered last night. An ATG draft had a player that was drafted twice, however it was a separate issue than the 'duplicate pick' from last week as this player was not drafted to the same team but two different teams at separate parts of the draft. This had not occurred during testing of the live draft module nor with any other draft that had happened so far. We are currently investigating why this took place and working on solutions for it.
In other news, the Barnstormers tournament is currently 30 games into the Championship round. Congratulations to the managers that reached the finals and good luck to everyone! Lastly, we are starting to receive consistent questions about when the 2013 player set will be available here. The schedule for the last few years has been early March and we anticipate it launching at around the same time this year.
