Hey guys,
First - the baseball playoffs have started and wow, what a first game. The Kansas City/Oakland game was an instant classic and a great way to kick things off. Madison Bumgarner pitched great last night but if we get any more games like Tuesday night's this will be one exciting postseason.
Anyway on to business. As I mentioned last week we will be adding 20 new players to ATG 8 in the coming weeks. 19 players are coming from a poll of 40 that I had posted while the final one is a write-in vote from whoever you wanted to see.
Well, the results are in!
The top 19 players are as follows (vote totals at the right):
1896 Hughie Jennings 38
1911 Sam Crawford 33
1953 Al Rosen 32
2003 Gary Sheffield 25
1993 John Olerud 24
1949 Vern Stephens 22
1929 Lefty O'Doul 18
1948 Joe DiMaggio 17
2005 Mariano Rivera 16
1968 Pete Rose 15
1951 Bobby Thomson 12
1997 Edgar Martinez 12
2008 Chipper Jones 12
1955 Richie Ashburn 11
1957 Willie Mays 11
1917 Heinie Groh 10
1995 Mo Vaughn 10
1998 Andres Galarraga 10
1962 Don Drysdale 9
There was actually a three way tied for the last spot but Drysdale is my tie-breaking pick. Another tie came in for the write-in player. A total of 31 different players were voted on as the write-in and both Babe Ruth and Carlos Delgado came in with 4 official votes each. We're only adding one and my tie-breaking vote is.....
Carlos Delgado!
I realize Ruth was a secondary pick for some users and it's obviously a great card. However we have great Ruth cards already. With Delgado missing from the set completely that's my pick for the 20th player. Ruth fans don't worry - I'm sure he'll be a prime candidate to get in on the next additional player grouping.
We will now move to add them to the group. We're still a few weeks from there but anticipate it adding it by the end of the month. I should have an update on that next week as well.
That's all I have for now but as always if anyone has any questions please let us know at onlinegamesupport@strat-o-matic.com. Talk to you all next week!
