Garcia's Blog 10/22/15- Drop Penalty

Hey guys,
One team is already in! Murphy just doesn't stop hitting home runs and gets the Mets past the Cubs as they swept the NLCS. We get a break today and then Friday, KC/TOR resume for Game 6. As usual this post-season has been great and I can't wait for that game. I mentioned Murphy, he's been so hot that he got his own playoff-only Strat card. Take a look at it here!
On to the main topic today, default drop penalty. An interesting thread and poll was posted by geekor here asking if the default drop penalty should be changed. The poll results were overwhelmingly in favor of changing the default penalty to the variable 5/10/20% fee rather than keeping the current default 20%.
So, we considered this and have made the change! Starting today, all newly created leagues will default to a 5/10/20% drop penalty. In addition, all existing auto leagues that haven't drafted yet will be changed to 5/10/20%.
The 10% and 20% options will still be available for anyone to choose if they wish.
For any new users who are not sure how the drop penalty works, anytime during the season that you drop a penalty you don't receive his entire salary back. Instead you get back his salary minus the drop penalty. You pay a fee for every move you make. Now instead of paying 20% all season long, the default drop penalty will change during the season according to the list below:
Games 1-41: 5%
Games 42-80: 10%
Games 81+: 20%
For example, if you drop a $1.00 million player between games 1 and 41 you will receive $0.95 of that money back. If the same player is dropped between games 42-80, you receive $0.90 back. And lastly, if that same player was dropped after game 81 you only receive $0.80 back.
The transaction deadline will still occur after Game 142. No transactions can take place after that point of the schedule.
We appreciate geekor posting the poll and everyone who voted or just commented on the thread. We took all viewpoints into account but in the end agreed that the change should be made towards the variable penalty.
Thanks again guys!
That's all I have for this week. As always, please e-mail any questions to onlinegamesupport@strat-o-matic.com. Talk to everyone next Thursday!
