FA Penalty

Hello all. First time trying SOM online. Played the card game many years ago. Had a question about the FA penalty. I just started in a free league to get my feet wet before buying into a real league.

Question: How does FA penalty work? ...and does the penalty only kick in after the season starts? I am trying to adjust my roster after the draft but was worried I would get dinged.

Kicks in once the season starts, then if you drop a player you also lose a percent of that players salary. I think it is a 20 percent penalty standard year and a 5/10/20 depending on games into the season for the decade seasons. Then some leagues have different amounts for their leagues.

Anyway, if you are playing the free play, it is 21 games and only 5 percent penalty if you are playing with decade players, 60s, 70s, 80s...
